Ankhian Nu Ren De Cover by Quratulain Balouch (QB): The track opens up with hauntingly divine vocals and as it progresses becomes a serenade of solitude. The edginess of rhythm guitar in the background overpowered by percussion effects to complement QB’s voice. Despite the stereotypical gloomy environment created by the slow, meandering agony of the instruments and echo of wailing vocals the track does stand out since it gives you a light hearted feeling against the over the top dark overtones.

Dhamak by Quratulain Balouch (QB): Now QB is one of those rare singers who has this intrinsic agony encapsulating her voice as obvious from vocal production since the composition is such that it amplifies the vocals intensifying the atmosphere of despair. Dhamak for me again stands out for the sheer intensity of vocals backed by overpowering lyrics. The essence of flute is there with percussion thumps and the riffs are slow and melodic everything about this track for me manifests heavy sadness.

OST: Dhamak (Drama Series)

Ajab GHam Ki Dhamak.. Dil Per Parhi Hai...
Udassiaan Aaeenoo Se Jhagti Hai..
Yeh Kis Manzar Pe Tum Ne Sath CHora..
Meri Tasveer Adhi Rah Gayi Hai !!
Tumara Hath Bhi To Hath Per Tha..
Achanak Aankh Meri Khul Gayi HAi..
Abhi Kal Tek Falak Tha Dastaras Mei..
Aur Ab Apni Zameen Bhi Ajnabi Hai !!
Ajab Gham Ki Dhamak.. Dil Per Parhi Hai !!
Tumari Yaad Ghabra Ke Jahan Se..
Mere Shaney Se Lag ker Sogayi Hai..
Tere Hum-KHuwab Hone Ki Tamanna..
Meri Be-KHuwabion Mei Jagti Hai !!
Ajab Gham Ki Dhamak.. Dil Per Parhi Hai !!
Fana Ke Bad Bhi Khwaish Hai Teri..
Musafat Hai Magr Kitni Karrhi Hai..
Kharey Hain Sans Ki Sarhad Pe Tanha..
Hamare Darmiyan Bass Zindagi Hai !!
Ajab Gham Ki Dhamak.. Dil Per Parhi Hai !!
Udassiaan Aaeenoo Se Jhagti Hai..
Yeh Kis Manzar Pe Tum Ne Sath CHora..
Meri Tasveer Adhi Rah Gayi Hai !!

Maa e Ni Cover by Quratulain Balouch (QB): The artistry and poetic mastery of Sufism interacting with QB vocals and outcomes a violent swing of soothing emotions; an ecstasy of a track having this awesome Blues aura. Maa e Ni tells the story of anguish of separation and farness and the euphoria as one is united with whom was lost.

Vocalist: Quratulain Balouch (QB)
Music: Shajar Fakhar

Maye ni mein kinnu aakhañ, dard wichhoray da haal ni…
Dukhañ di roti, soolañ da salan,
Aaheñ da balan baal ni
Kahe Hussain faqeer nu mana
Shah mile taañ thewañ nihaal ni
Maye ni mein kinnu aakhañ, dard wichhoray da haal ni…

Mera Ishq by Quratulain Balouch (QB): This track is more of a probe that explores the intensity one associates with love; the in-between techno touch and an intriguing bassline creates a soothing but definitely a sinister effect. QB takes the listener on a journey of emotional songwriting with percussion thumps backed by violent grace in vocals. Mera Ishq is indeed a dynamic perfection with realism behind each word engulfing the listener. A must listen for its sheer intensity.

Vocalist: Quratulain Balouch (QB)
Composition and Lyrics by: QB and Asad Chohan
Guitars: Sayyam Rana

Na main majno,na main ranjha. na uljha main vich aye zaataan.
Tere daar tay aa betha waa, ishq da choula paa betha,
main tay jogarn jogarn jogarn hoyi sonain yaar di,
main tay jogarn jogarn hoyi sonain apne pyar di.
Tere naa tu jeewaan hon main, mar jawaan tere naa tu,
Tere naa tu jeewaan hon main,
Tere naa mar jawaan.
waar diyaan main jindaari sari,
naam Tera main pukaraan,
na yeh hai khatta na yeh hai judda
Mera ishq Khuda Mera ishq waffa
Mera ishq dua mera ishq sadda
mera ishq junoon mera ishq wii tuun
Jai main Tenu bahaar dhondha andar kon samana
jai main Tenu andar dhondha pher mukayaad janaa
sub kuch Tu aye sab vich Tu aye Tenu sab tou paak pehchana,
main vi Tu aye Tu vi Tu aye bulla kon namara

Panchi by Jal feat. Quratulain Balouch (QB): Gohar from Jal as a vocalist doesn’t quite work out since he has that monotonic voice with little or no impact; the track does open up with some interesting guitars and rhythm section does give this track a positive vibe but the vocals fail miserably and QB never quite gets a chance to showcase her true potential apart from a rare few occasions in the track.

Vocalist: Gohar, Farhan Saeed and Quratulain Balouch (QB)
Series: Coke Studio Season 4

panchhi hoon uṛne do uṛne do
hawaaon se laṛne do
raste galiyaan choṛ aaya main
bhoole waa’de toṛ chala main
ye raat abhi ḍhal jaae gi
ye baat abhi badal jaae gi
main tanha hoon rahne do rahne do
aansu hoon bahne do
tere ishq men jo bhi ḍoob gaya
use dunya ki lahron se ḍarna kya
use ḍarna kya
tere ishq men
use ḍarna kya
ho ala

Panchi by Jal feat. Quratulain Balouch (QB)

Peera by Khawar Jawad feat. Quratulain Balouch (QB): Now composition of this track leaves me somewhat cold since the mash-up of techno, Sufi poetry, and eastern instrumentalism and an attempt for weak vocals of Khawar Jawad to be complimented by heavy texture of QB’s voice doesn’t quite workout for me; too much going on for my liking but you guys make your own call.

Vocalist: Khawar Jawad feat. QB
Composition: Khawar Jawad

Uss Par by Quratulain Balouch (QB): Uss Par not a lyrical genius but the subtle presence of flute does keep the listener committed to the very end. The song for me never quite gets off as I wait for the explosion of emotions one tends to get when listening to QB but the track is more in a hush-hush tone backed by a simplistic composition for better part of the track, more fitted as a background theme for a restaurant while you enjoy your dinner but definitely has this tendency to grow upon you if you keep listening to it. The track mainly signifies return of QB after a deadly car accident that could have turned into a huge loss for the music industry but due to God’s grace it wasn’t to be the case.

Vocalist: Quratulain Balouch (QB)
Lyrics: Junaid Azar
Composition: Waqar Ali

Who Humsafar Tha by Quratulain Balouch (QB): Agreed the song was popularized more by the record breaking drama serial Humsafar but on itself as well the track hold much versatility. The song has much been talked about so only thing left to do now is listen to it.
